The GoWalking by Sportline is a basic pedometer to track the number of steps you take and the distance you cover while walking. The device will calculate approximate calories burned if you setup the option. The pedometer is small and attaches with a clip to your waistband. The GoWalking pedometer has few options, making it user friendly for the casual or beginner fitness walker. GoWalking pedometers do have a walking history option, so you can track walking data in a fitness notebook.

Step 1

Measure your walking stride length by standing approximately three walking lengths behind a line on the pavement. Walk forward using your natural fitness pace. Count 10 steps after crossing the start line and stop.

Step 2

Measure the total length from the start line to point of the front toe after the tenth step. Divide the length by 10 for the measurement of a single stride.

Step 3

Setup the stride length in the GoWalking pedometer by selecting "Mode" and "Step." Verify the "Step" setting is set to miles or kilometers, depending on your calculation preference.

Step 4

Input the stride length by selecting "Distance and "Set" until the display screen flashes. Push "Reset" until the desired length displays on the screen. Wait for the screen to exit and record the value.

Step 5

Input the time by selecting "Mode" until the clock appears, then select "Set" until the display screen flashes. Press "Reset" until the correct hour is displayed. Select "Set" to change the minutes and press "Reset" until the correct minute displays. Press "Set" once to save the correct time.

Step 6

Input your weight to calculate the approximate calorie expenditure while walking by selecting "Mode" until "Calorie Counter" displays. Select "Set" to input your current weight in pounds. Wait for the screen to exit and record the value.

Step 7

Press "Reset" each time you use the pedometer to clear the display. Press "Mode" to view current data during or after your walk.
