Tinnitus is a common problem associated with an abnormal ringing, buzzing, hissing, whistling or clicking in the ears. Tinnitus is so common that The Mayo Clinic reports one in five people are affected by its symptoms. Individuals suffering from tinnitus may experience fatigue, stress, depression, anxiety, insomnia and a lack of focus. Kundalini yoga is frequently hailed as the most powerful form of yoga, and some contend it may combat tinnitus.
Tinnitus
The Mayo Clinic notes tinnitus is often an indicator of an underlying condition, such as an ear injury, circulatory system disorder or hearing loss caused by aging. Fortunately, although an annoyance, tinnitus generally isn't a warning sign of something serious.
Causes
According to the Mayo Clinic, common causes of tinnitus include ingesting certain medications, inner ear cell damage, exposure to loud noise, earwax blockage and ear bone changes. Many people begin to encounter signs of developing tinnitus around age 60. This form of hearing loss is medically termed presbycusis. Although rarer, tinnitus can also be triggered by Meniere's disease, TMJ disorders, acoustic neuroma, and head or neck injuries.
Kundalini
The website Secrets of Yoga reports Kundalini, which means "coiled up" in Sanskrit, is a form of yoga that concentrates on the awakening and controlled release of the Kundalini energy located at the base of the spine. The notion is the energy located at the back of the spine transforms into a "coiled snake." When the snake is enlivened and allowed to progress up the spine to the brain, you will achieve a state of ecstasy and enlightenment. Kundalini, which emphasizes uniting the body and mind, is renowned as one of the more spiritual styles of yoga. Kundalini demands not only physical performance, but also sound breathing and meditation.
Potential Benefits
The website Health Mad says a Kundalini pose called the "Karna Pidasana" may help the treatment of tinnitus. When this particular pose is performed, both of your knees press against your ears. Karna Pidasana may alleviate pain related to tinnitus because your blood flow is stimulated and your knees muffle your ears.
Warning
Like with other types of alternative medicine treatments, there is little concrete evidence that your battle with tinnitus will be cured, or even relieved, by partaking in the practice of Kundalini yoga.
