The Lindora Clinic's Lean for Life weight loss program was established in 1971 with a mission of helping patients lose weight safely and effectively. The program is a medically supervised regimen involving low-calorie eating and personalized fitness plans for all participants. The clinic aims to emphasize safe, healthy and lasting techniques for weight loss, whether in person or through its Web-based program.

Benefits

According to the Lindora website, thousands of patients have completed more than 10 million visits at the company's clinic and have lost ranges of weight from just a few pounds to more than 300 lbs.. The Lindora diet plan includes fresh foods such as fruits and vegetables, which, according to MyPyramid, can reduce risks of conditions including diabetes, heart disease, stroke, kidney stones, bone loss and cancer as well as overweight and obesity.

Locations

Lindora's primary clinic locale is southern California, where the company has 44 outposts. At each of its clinics, Lindora hosts a 10-week program for participants that offers one-on-one consultations, personalized fitness and dietary recommendations and medically monitored results. For patients who aren't able to get to southern California, an online version of the clinic's program is also available.

Diet

Unlike many existing weight loss organizations, Lindora doesn't offer prepackaged meals or a fixed stable of low-calorie options for its patients. Instead, the company places an emphasis on fresh, whole foods, which the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center recommends for the treatment of extreme obesity. Lindora educates participants about proper nutrition, how to form balanced meals and how to continue to lose weight by preparing food at home.

Exercise

Lindora encourages all of its participants to adopt a regular exercise schedule, which its team of physicians and professionals tailor to each patient. The details of each plan are different, but the company holds a focus on boosting metabolism so that patients can burn more calories at rest after completing the program. One way to accomplish that objective is by using strength training and weightlifting to gain lean muscle mass, which burns more calories at a resting heart rate than body fat does.

Considerations

The Lindora plan is not suitable for everyone and may not be helpful for people with severe health conditions. Although the plan uses the reliable combination of diet, exercise and positive lifestyle changes, it's not guaranteed to take off weight. Before taking part, it's important that patients consult with their doctor or another health care professional for personalized advice.
