With more than 100 locations across Canada and its headquarters in Toronto, Ontario, Timothy's was founded in 1975 as a single café. The company purchases premium quality Arabica coffee beans from around the world and roasts them at its own facility in Toronto. Aside from providing a cup of warm coffee to its customers, Timothy's involves the company in social and environmental awareness by assisting coffee farmers and their families and promoting the growing of coffee.

Timothy's Brewed Coffee

Timothy's provides its coffees in three different sizes: small, medium, and large. A large cup of brewed hot coffee offered in a 20 oz. cup contains 10 calories, with 2 g of carbohydrates and 10 g of dietary sodium. A total of 1 g of protein exists along with 2 percent of your daily intakes of both calcium and iron.

Timothy's Flavored Coffee

The nationwide café offers flavored coffee ranging from French Vanilla to Hazelnut, from Italian Blend to Parisian Nights. One large cup of flavored coffee provides 15 calories, while a medium cup provides 10.6 calories, and a small cup provides 5.5 calories. Based on a large cup, the amount of dietary sodium equals to 10 g while there are 2 g of carbohydrates, 1 g of protein, and 2 percent of your daily intake of iron. The flavored coffee does not contain any calcium.

Timothy's Tea

Containing only 5 calories per large cup, Timothy's provides hot tea offering 20 g of sodium and 2 g of carbohydrates. There is no indication of the presence of calcium or iron.

A Healthy Surprise in a Cup of Coffee

According to a study conducted by Diaz-Rubio & Saura-Calixto, brewed coffee contains a significant amount of soluble dietary fiber. In fact, it provides more dietary fiber than common beverages such as orange juice or wine. Not only that, but coffee shows antioxidant benefits, according to the study. It akso contains polyphenols, which provide a significant amount of antioxidant activity associated with fiber.

Considerations

The benefits of coffee are only gained through following the recommended intake. According to Medline Plus, three 8 oz. cups of coffee, a total of 250 mg of caffeine, are considered a moderate amount. Also, since certain medications interact with caffeine, it is imperative to talk to your doctor about potential interactions before taking any medication.
