You can naturally detox your body simply by incorporating certain detoxifying foods. As long as you eat the foods raw, you will derive their maximum detoxifying potential. The more you eat of these foods, the more your body will be able to eliminate toxins. These foods also provide you with other nutrients to benefit your body in healthful ways besides detoxification.

Raw Fruits and Greens

Eating raw fruits and greens that are high in antioxidants can repair your cells of damage, eliminates the effects of toxins and prevents cancer. Fruits and vegetables like berries, kiwi, Brussel sprouts and broccoli are an excellent source of vitamin C, which strengthen your immune system and protects you against illness. One of the most potent fruits is the acai berry. This Brazilian berry is touted by "The Oprah Show" as high in antioxidants that prevent premature aging like anthocyanins. You don't have to travel to Brazil to find this berry; it is available at your local health food store. The unsweetened version is the most suitable for detoxification, because there are no added sugars.

Garlic

Garlic is a powerhouse of an antioxidant to help you detoxify your body. In fact, its whole family of vegetables are also powerful, which inludes onions, scallions, shallots and chives. Garlic and onions serve as a flavorful base for most cooked meals; however, it these are especially important to eat raw, because their active enzyme, allicin is sensitive to heat, which can destroy it. Its sulfur compound, allicin and flavonoids stimulates the production of glutathione, which is the most effective antioxidant in your liver that is responsible for eliminating toxins.

Probiotics

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine explains the importance of probiotics in cleaning your intestines. Probiotics detox your intestines of "bad" bacteria by using "good" bacteria. When your intestines have a healthy amount of good bacteria, you are able best absorb nutrients that aid your body in gaining optimal health. You can find a variety of types and flavors of probiotics in foods, such as yogurt, kefir, kimchi, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and tempeh. The yogurt is found at any grocery store, but most of the others are typically found in health food stores.
