Beautiful skin is harder to achieve and maintain as you get older. Environmental toxins and lifestyle choices can impact the appearance and health of your skin. The good news is that many of the same vitamins and minerals that make fruit nutritious can also help heal and renew your skin. Making your own home remedies using fruit allows you to target the areas that are a problem so you can achieve the most beautiful skin possible.
Fresh Fruit Facial
A facial can renew the appearance of your skin as well as help remove toxins that cause impurities and dull skin. Fresh fruit and its juice contain nutrients that help moisturize the skin as well as treat blemishes. Any type of soft fruit, such as peaches, berries, watermelon and banana, will work for this facial. Blend 1/4 cup of the fruit of your choice with 1 tsp. of honey, 1 whole egg, 1 tsp. of fresh cream and 1 tsp. of oil, such as olive oil. Mix the ingredients well, and then apply the fruit facial to your entire face and neck area, avoiding the eyes. Leave the facial on for 10 to 15 minutes, and then rinse well and apply your regular moisturizer.
Citrus Exfoliating Scrub
Exfoliation removes dead skin cells from your body and helps improve the appearance and health of your skin. You should exfoliate your entire body once a week to enable your skin to soak up more of the moisture from lotions and creams. You will need 1/2 of a lemon, lime or orange, 1 tbsp. of honey and 1/4 cup of white sugar for this scrub. Start by mixing the honey and sugar together, and then squeeze the citrus juice into the mixture. The recipe should make a thick paste. Apply the paste to your entire body and gently scrub. Rinse and repeat at least once a week.
Mango Acne Treatment
Acne is a common problem that can plague older adults as well as adolescents going through puberty. If you suffer from acne, the compounds in mango and some herbs may help clear your skin and reduce the outbreaks of acne in the future. You will need about 1/8 of a fresh ripe mango, 1 tbsp. of Epsom salts, 1 tsp. of sage leaves and 2 tsp. of fresh thyme. Start by peeling the mango and chopping it into small pieces. Place the mango in a blender with the Epsom salts, sage and thyme. Mix the ingredients together until they begin to form a paste. Gently scrub your face with the paste, and then rinse with warm water. Use several times a week to help treat your acne.
