Trampolining is a gymnastics-like sport that involves performing jumps, moves and routines while on a trampoline. In trampolining, spotters are used to spot the performers and hopefully help prevent falls or accidents. To spot there are some specific ideas and techniques that you should use to ensure the safety of the participant and yourself.

Step 1

Watch and pay attention to the trampoline performer at all times. It is important to always be paying attention not just to help the participant but to protect yourself from getting kicked or run over if the participant were to fall or slide off.

Step 2

Move out of the way of the trampolinist if they are falling and you cannot help or you are not sure if you can help. Brentwood Trampoline says that often the performer can brace the fall better and being unsure or hesitant can injure both of you.

Step 3

Reach as high as possible and make contact with the shoulders or chest if possible. Brentwood Trampoline notes that high contact as soon as possible can reduce the momentum of a falling performer.

Step 4

Try to slow down the trampolinst and just make sure they do not hit the ground full speed. Brentwood Trampoline notes that bigger, stronger coaches are usually more effective and might even be able to catch participants. Smaller, less experienced people should simply try to slow down and help break the fall of a participant.
