When it comes to taking off unwanted pounds, you need all the information in your weight-loss arsenal that you can get. You probably have already reduced the number of calories you consume and may go to the gym faithfully. You may not be familiar with these surprising methods, however. Try a couple and you may just lose a few extra pounds.

Move

You've probably heard that adopting an exercise program will help you to lose weight. What you may not know is that any type of movement can help you to meet your weight-loss goals. While aerobic exercise is important, so is incorporating general movement into your day. If you work a sedentary job, find reasons to get up and walk, climb stairs or carry something. At home, embrace heavy cleaning jobs, because they'll burn calories. A 150 lb. person will burn over 300 calories just by doing chores like blowing leaves or scrubbing woodwork. Adopt hobbies that require movement as well. Gardening and woodworking are two activities that can get your body moving.

Spice Up Your Food

The next time you have an opportunity to spice up your food, take it. Hot peppers contain capsaicin, a compound that can oxidize fat cells and speed up your metabolism, according to Northwestern University's Medill Reports. Food flavored with hot peppers has another weight-loss benefit -- it'll likely to force you to slow down your eating, giving your stomach the opportunity to let you know when you're full before you've consumed excessive calories.

Have a Yogurt

Yogurt has long been a weight-loss staple, as non-fat versions that are sweetened with non-nutritive sweeteners can be quite low in calories. What you may not know, however, is that low-fat dairy products may actually stimulate weight loss. Further study is needed, but in the meantime, you can't go wrong adding yogurt to your diet. Try Greek yogurt -- it's higher in calcium and protein than the regular kind, and the protein will lead to increased satiety.

Get Intimate

One weight loss tip you don't often hear about is to have sex to lose weight. Not only does having sex burn calories, but sex and hunger are regulated by the same brain chemical, according to Drs. Michael Roizen and Mehmet Oz. It is possible that sexual intimacy may help you control food cravings -- by satisfying one appetite, you satisfy the other. Sex provides a reason to stick to your diet as well, as healthy foods can give sex hormones a boost.
