Home multi gyms are designed to replace the wide variety of exercise machines found at the gym while allowing you to complete a total body fitness workout. With specific designs allowing various exercises, some home multi gyms are better than others. The BowFlex Revolution XP, for example, is one of the best home multi gyms according to the "Home Gym Adviser" website for the combination of easy function, features, additional accessories, available exercises and cost.

Exercises

With the BowFlex Revolution XP home multi gym, you have the ability to perform over 90 exercises with the base model and factory accessories. These exercises replicate free weight exercises such as chest flyes and shoulder presses. The SpiraFlex plates can be added or removed to adjust the weight according to your fitness and strength levels. The "freedom arms" can also be adjusted to 10 positions over 170 degrees to accommodate additional exercises.

Benefits

The SpiraFlex plates allow the BowFlex Revolution XP to have over 200 lbs. of resistance, but can be upgradeable to 180 lbs. After loading the weights on the BowFlex Revolution XP, tension is created on a rubber strap that wraps around a coil to provide consistent resistance throughout the range of the motion for the exercise. This type of resistance is different than the traditional BowFlex home gyms with power rods.

Features

While the BowFlex Revolution XP can perform over 90 exercises, there are also accessories that can be used for additional exercises. The lat tower can be used for back and shoulder exercises while the squat harness can be used for lower body exercises that builds strength in the glutes, hamstrings and quadriceps. The ab crunch pad can be used for abdominal exercises and the leg curl/extension station can be used for isolation leg exercises. Another feature of the BowFlex Revolution XP is the footprint measuring 64 inches long, 38 inches wide and 73 inches high.

Considerations

As of 2010, the BowFlex Revolution XP sells for around $2,499. This price includes several accessories and warranties. The company promises a six-week fitness results guarantee, or your money back. After that, the 10-year limited warranty covers the construction and parts on the BowFlex Revolution XP. Accessories include hand grips, foot harness, workout manual and workout DVD.
