The World Triathlon Corporation is well known for its decades-long hosting of Ironman triathlon events, but the company also has a thriving fitness equipment business. Among its products are a variety of inversion tables, including the Ironman Gravity 1000. According to the Spine Universe website, inversion tables stimulate blood and fluid circulation throughout your body and are useful for the treatment of back pain and sciatica. The Ironman Gravity 1000 features an adjustable height table, large handles and a steel A-frame for support.
Step 1
Locate the pivot arm adjusters on the left and right side of the backrest where it meets the A-frame. Pull the pivot arm away from the table and move it up or down on the locking post. The lowest hole in the pivot arm gives you least amount of inversion on the table and the highest hole gives you the most. Set both pivot arms to the same height.
Step 2
Loosen the boom knob on the back of the Ironman Gravity 1000 and slide the foot platform up or down to suit your height. Turn the knob clockwise to retighten it after the platform is at the appropriate height.
Step 3
Lift up on the spring knob on the ankle clamp so you can open them wide enough to put your feet in. Rest your left and right foot on the corresponding foot platform and slide the ankle clamp back down against your legs so they are held securely in place. Let go of the spring knob and adjust the instep frame up or down until the spring knob clicks in place.
Step 4
Lay back against the padded table with your arms resting at your sides. Raise your arms slowly above your head to begin inverting. If the table begins to invert too quickly, lower your arms toward your legs. Hold your arms completely over your head to invert fully.
Step 5
Slowly rock the table between full inversion and a horizontal position by lowering and raising your arms. This helps pump your blood through your body. When fully inverted, perform stretches over your head and side to side. If you are an experienced user of inversion tables, perform light exercises that include crunches and back arches to enhance your benefits from the inversion therapy.
Step 6
Remain inverted for no more than 10 minutes. If you become uncomfortable or dizzy before 10 minutes, return to an upright position immediately by lowering your arms to your sides or by grasping the handrails on the frame and pulling yourself back up. Release the tension on the ankle clamp and dismount the Ironman Gravity 1000.
