Nutritional supplements are an efficient way to boost calories, protein and other nutrients. Magic Cup pack all its nutrition in 4 oz., or 1/2 cup, serving size. Magic Cup comes in four different flavors, chocolate, vanilla, orange creme and wild berry. If you have diabetes or need to monitor your carbohydrate intake, Magic Cup vanilla also comes in a no-sugar added. All varieties are gluten-free, but not appropriate for lactose-free or kosher diets.

Magic Cups are calorically dense, fitting 260 calories, for the no sugar added vanilla flavor and 290 calories, for all other flavors into one 1/2-cup serving. Approximately one-third of the calories are from fat. Fat is the most concentrated source of calories, providing 9 calories per gram, so it allows a higher calorie content at a lower volume. All original flavors contain 11 g of total fat, of which 6 g are saturated fat. The no added sugar vanilla provides 14 g of fat, of which 7 g are saturated. All flavors provide 9 g of protein. Chocolate, vanilla, orange creme and wild berry provide 30 to 35 g of sugar and no fiber. No added sugar vanilla includes 4 g of fiber to help reduce the sugar content to 10 g. In addition, Magic Cup fortifies their products with vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium and iron.


High calorie supplements such as Magic Cup are beneficial if you are trying to increase your calorie intake. Advanced age, recent surgery or illness, cancer, wounds or swallowing difficulty can result in suboptimal calorie intake. Adding nutrient dense products such as oral nutrition supplements, can help you get the calories you need in a small amount of food. Magic Cup supplements are appropriate if you have dysphagia, or difficulty swallowing. You may be restricted to thicker liquids because they are easier and safer to swallow. When thawed, Magic Cup supplements are a pudding-thick consistency and acceptable for certain dysphagia diets.
