Trampolines are large spring-loaded devices covered with fabric enabling you to jump on them. The springs propel jumpers around and the trampoline can be used for recreational fun or for the sport of trampolining. When you prepare to buy a trampoline you must consider several sizing options to ensure there is enough room to safely construct the device in your chosen location.

Step 1

Search for and find level ground to put the trampoline on. Placing a trampoline on an uneven surface can lead to slipping or unsafe jumping because of the non-level surface. In addition, Trampolines Asia says that you should avoid placing the trampoline on different surfaces. For example, you do not want to place part of the trampoline on concrete and part of it on grass.

Step 2

Measure the area to ensure that you have enough space for the trampoline. Trampolines Asia says that you should add an extra 3 feet to the area that you are measuring to leave room for assembly and maintenance. For instance if you are attempting to buy a 14-foot trampoline, you should allot 17 feet for space.

Step 3

Measure above the trampoline to ensure that you have enough room vertically. According to Dick's Sporting Goods, you need at least 24 feet of overhead clearance. Dick's also notes that you must make sure to avoid hazards that include electrical wiring, tree limbs and fences.
