Table tennis is an aggressive sport that requires quickness, aggressiveness, strategy and endurance. Table tennis is not pingpong. Pingpong is a recreational game played in basements by coworkers, relatives and friends. It is known for serves, slams and the occasional backhand shot down the line. Table tennis features precision shots, long rallies and players who know how to take advantage of the slightest mistake with point-winning passing shots.
Step 1
Get in an aggressive position with your knees bent in an athletic position and your weight on the balls of your feet. You want to be able to move easily to your left or right to retrieve the shot.
Step 2
Watch how your opponent hits the ball. If he comes over the top of the ball with overspin, you must use a downward stroke on the ball to put backspin on it. If your opponent chops and puts backspin on the ball, you must come through by coming over the top of the ball to put your own overspin on it.
Step 3
Tilt your paddle forward to put overspin on the ball. If your opponent hits a high shot that you want to try to put away for a winner, you must come over the top with overspin. This is the most aggressive shot in the game
Step 4
Develop your backhand shot. In an all-out aggressive game of table tennis, most players prefer to hit the ball with the forehand. However, developing a strong backhand can be the difference maker. Not only can you hit clean winners with a good backhand shot, but you can surprise your opponent and ruin his strategy because he won't know which angle the shot is coming from.
