Since it opened 40 years ago, Nautilus has expanded to include a range of personal training options. You can learn more about these options at Nautilus fitness centers throughout the United States. The fitness centers feature Nautilus fitness equipment and also provide personal training programs and classes for members.

Determining Fitness Goals

When you enter a Nautilus fitness center and ask for more information about your personal training options, a staff member can help determine the best options for you. She bases these options on your individual fitness needs. The staff member conducts a pre-assessment, which includes a series of questions. After the assessment, she helps you articulate your fitness goals and determine your training needs.

What to Expect in Pre-Assessment

The fitness pre-assessment helps determine your level of fitness before beginning a program. The assessment may include a body composition test, which determines the percentage of fat in your body. The staff member may also check your resting heart rate or ask you to perform fitness tests like pull-ups, sit-ups or push-ups. These tests help the staff member understand what kinds of exercises and/or lifestyle changes might best improve your fitness. He may also ask questions about your individual goals to find out your desired area of focus.

Individually Tailored Programs

Nautilus tailors its training programs to the needs of the individual member. Whether you need to train for a sport, work toward a healthier lifestyle, lose weight or develop strength, Nautilus helps devise the fitness program you want. An individual trainer may conduct your training one-on-one, and you may also join fitness classes that address your goals. Each time you go in for training, your personal trainer meets with you to assess your progress as well as provide tips and motivational advice.

Use of the Equipment

Your personal trainer works together with the Nautilus exercise equipment to help you meet your fitness goals. Even NASA touts the strength-training benefits and efficiency of Nautilus machines. Though Nautilus was traditionally known for its strength-training products, it has also worked to create effective cardiovascular training equipment. One example is the Bowflex Max Trainer, a stationary bike with 25 resistance levels, 29 workout programs, a heart rate monitor, a USB port, transport wheels, a fan and two LCD screens showing as many as 13 feedbacks.
