BSN is a sports nutrition company founded in 2001. The company manufactures a variety of sports supplements, from fat burners to weight gainers, that are intended to enhance the effects of exercise and strength training. Although BSN supplements may be effective, you should consult a doctor before using BSN products or any other supplements.
Weight Management Products
BSN offers a number of supplements intended to aid in weight management and fat loss. Most of these products, such as Atro-Phex and Thermonex, contain stimulants such as caffeine and green tea extract, which are purported to increase your metabolic rate. BSN's Cheater's Relief does not contain stimulants, but provides ingredients intended to combat fat storage. One ingredient, chitosan, may significantly improve weight loss compared to placebo, according to research from the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews.
Energy Supplements
BSN produces several supplements intended to increase your energy before workouts. The most well-known is N.O.-Xplode, which contains amino acids, caffeine and vinpocetine. Bodybuilding.com explains that vincopetine improves oxygen and glucose utilization in the brain, which may result in increased alertness, concentration and stress management.
Protein Supplements
BSN produces several protein supplements that are purported to improve muscle mass. These supplements include Lean Dessert, True Mass and Syntha-6. BSN's Syntha-6 protein powder is a meal replacement supplement that provides protein, fat and carbohydrates, including 5 g of dietary fiber. Research from the May 2001 issue of Nutrition Reviews explains that dietary fiber helps reduce hunger and may improve weight loss.
Creatine
BSN's creatine products include N.O.-Xplode Caffeine Free and CellMass. These supplements may help increase muscle mass because they contain creatine, protein and carbohydrates. According to a December 2010 study from the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, supplements containing creatine, carbohydrates and protein help to increase strength and muscle mass.
