Loose stool, or diarrhea, is a condition in which a person passes frequent watery bowel movements. Acute diarrhea is common and usually only lasts a few days. You can help relieve loose stools by taking psyllium husks, which you can find in powdered form at a health food store. Psyllium is a soluble fiber that can firm up loose stools by absorbing excess water in the colon that results in diarrhea. Always consult your doctor before adding any supplement to your diet.
Step 1
Pour 8 to 12 oz. of water or juice into a glass. Add one heaping tbsp. of psyllium husk to the glass.
Step 2
Stir the mixture vigorously with a spoon and drink immediately. Psyllium husks expand rapidly and can become too thick to drink within a short period.
Step 3
Take one serving of psyllium husks up to three times a day, depending on your need.
