Although you may only lose mostly water weight, it could be beneficial if you need to drop weight quickly for a special occasion or event. Wrestlers and boxers have reportedly used body suits for this purpose, according to Military.com.
Side Effects
Since you experience an elevated body temperature in a weight-loss suit, you may develop some serious side effects. These effects include dizziness, weakness and muscle cramping. Excessive sweating puts you at risk for dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. If you notice any side effects while wearing a weight-loss suit, remove the clothing.
Warning
The use of body suits for weight loss has been banned by sports federations, including the NCAA. This came as a result of a death of a young wrestler after working out for two hours wearing a rubber suit. Other extreme methods of weight loss also banned by the NCAA include use of the sauna prior to an event. Weigh-ins now take place two hours prior to an event instead of the day before.
