How to Cleanse Your Body of Toxins Naturally

Given proper nutrition and good health, the body removes toxins automatically through the liver, exocrine glands and renal system. Some purport that certain diets can effectively assist in toxin removal, but MayoClinic.com indicates that there is no scientific proof that any of them would work. However, it is possible to promote detoxification by encouraging the body's natural means of removing toxins. Depending on the nature of the toxins involved, it may be necessary to visit a doctor to ensure that no further treatment is necessary.

Step 1

Ingest a diuretic to encourage the renal system to filter the blood more rapidly, effectively promoting toxin removal. Options include a pharmaceutical diuretic, fruits and vegetables with a high proportion of water, herbs and caffeine. Fruits, vegetables and herbal infusions like dandelion leaf tea may be preferable to pharmaceutical diuretics and caffeine, because they contain nutrients that may deplete due to increased urination.

Step 2

Bathe in Epsom salts dissolved in warm bath water. Comprised of magnesium sulfate, the salts promote the excretion of toxins through the skin.

Step 3

Exercise rigorously while ingesting large amounts of water. This raises blood circulation, increases renal activity and promotes the excretion of toxins along with sweat.

Step 4

Expose the body to alternating extremes of hot and cold while bathing or showering to increase circulation, which proportionately increases renal activity.

Step 5

Include both soluble and insoluble fiber in your diet to help clear the intestines while boosting waste removal.
