Designer Whey manufactures several brands of whey protein powder, which is made from milk by-products. The Designer Whey product line includes several flavors of Original, All Natural and Weight Control styles, as well as fruit-flavored 2Go paks. You can purchase the first three in easy-to-scoop canisters. Designer Whey recommends using a 1 oz. scoop for each serving. The 2Go paks are pre-portioned for use in a 12 oz. water bottle.
Calories
All flavors of the Original and All Natural lines of Designer Whey power contain 100 calories per serving, while the Weight Control whey powders contain 120 calories per serving, according to the Designer Whey website. Designer Whey recommends mixing each 1 oz. scoop in 5 oz. of water, or blending it into a smoothie with additional ingredients. Each 2Go pak contains 50 calories.
Protein
The Original Designer Whey product line contains 18 g of protein per scoop, as do most flavors of the All Natural product line. This is similar to the amount of protein in a cup of non-fat Greek yogurt, according to the My Fitness Pal website. The Weight Control line, which comes in chocolate and French vanilla flavors, has 15 g of protein per 1 oz. scoop, while the 2Go paks contain 10 g of protein.
Fat
All of the Designer Whey products contain fewer than 20 calories of fat per serving, which keeps their calorie count low. A scoop of Original or All Natural Designer Whey contains 2 g of fat, while a scoop of Weight Control Designer Whey contains 3 g of fat. Each 2Go pak contains ½ g of fat.
Carbohydrates
One scoop of Original or All Natural Designer Whey contains 3 g of carbohydrate and less than 1 g of fiber. The Weight Control line offers 8 g of carb and 5 g of fiber, about the same as half an avocado. The fiber helps you feel full longer, according to Designer Whey. For low-carb dieters, this means that the net carbs per serving of the Weight Control line is 3 g, making this a reasonable addition to a low-carb diet.
Considerations
If you follow a chemical-free diet plan, such as "Fat Flush for Life" or "Master Your Metabolism," you might want to choose the All Natural or Weight Control protein powders to avoid chemical ingredients. Both of these lines are sweetened with stevia, while the Original and 2Go lines contain sucralose and artificial flavors, which are discouraged on chemical-free diets. Check with your doctor before beginning any new diet plan.
