Usually when people think of working out, getting fit and losing weight, the gym is considered the place to start. But if the health club is not for you or you simply prefer to be outdoors, there are still plenty of ways for you to burn calories and lose belly fat.

Running

Running is one of the best cardiovascular exercises that you can do, and the high amount of energy exertion and calorie burn will help you to lose your belly fat. Running a 10-minute mile will burn 135 calories, according to Fitness Magazine, which will give you a 405-calorie burn in just 30 minutes. Additionally, running builds lean muscle mass in your legs and glutes, which are some of the largest muscle groups in your body. The extra muscle will help to keep your metabolism humming along, which will also help to burn the fat off of your belly.

Dancing

A night out dancing with friends can be very therapeutic in a number of ways; you're having fun while relieving stress and burning calories. Exercise is all about moving your body and doing it on the dance floor can be as effective as working out in the gym, as long as you're keeping the rhythm going and you are working up a sweat. Harvard University reports that dancing for a half hour can burn approximately 165 to 244 calories, depending on your height and weight. Disco, Latin or swing; it's your choice as long as you keep moving.

Tennis

Tennis involves running, sprinting and swinging, all of which burn calories and can help you lose extra weight around your waist. Playing a tennis match or practicing on a ball machine can burn approximately 200 to 300 calories in just 30 minutes of play, according to Harvard University, and considering most tennis matches last at least an hour, you'll most likely leave the court burning twice that amount.

Soccer

Similar to tennis, soccer is a sport that is based around running, sprinting and quick movements that build lean muscle mass. And also like tennis, you'll be having so much fun playing that you may not even realize that you are exercising. The required balance and quick change of direction and motion that is required of soccer will strengthen and tone your core and abdominals. And just 30 minutes of play can burn around 300 calories, depending on your height and weight, according to Harvard University.
