How to Inflate a Thera-Band Exercise Ball

Thera-Band is a brand name of exercise products that includes resistance bands and stability balls. Thera-Band exercise balls come in a variety of sizes and can be used to strengthen and stretch most of the major muscle groups in your body. Thera-Band balls can hold up to 600 lbs. when they are inflated properly. Thera-Band balls are made of polyvinyl chloride or PVC and contain no latex. Inflating a Thera-Band ball is slightly different than inflating most exercise balls, but is not overly complex.

Step 1

Remove the ball from its packaging and lay it flat on the floor. Leave it for two to three hours.

Step 2

Mark the diameter of the ball horizontally from a wall so you know when it is approaching being fully inflated. Place a chair or other object opposite the wall at the proper distance as indicated on the ball.

Step 3

Pump air into the ball with a high volume manual pump or air compressor. Low volume pumps like a bicycle pump will not work. Stop pumping when the ball is roughly 80 percent full.

Step 4

Insert the plug and leave the ball for 24 hours to allow it to adapt to the inflation. Continue to inflate the ball to the proper size the next day.

Step 5

Measure the diameter from the wall or vertically from the floor and insert the plug when it is at the right height.

Things You'll Need
