Both physical and mental fatigue can cause major problems in your life. Working, raising children and even running errands are much more challenging when your energy levels are low and fatigue has set in. Taking specific measures to decrease fatigue and give your energy a boost will enhance your health and your life. If you have no underlying problem causing your fatigue, lifestyle changes usually help the situation.
Step 1
Visit your doctor so he can run any tests he deems necessary and rule out serious illness as a cause of your fatigue.
Step 2
Drink at least eight glasses of water each day to keep your body properly hydrated. Your body is mostly water and you must maintain your levels to maintain energy.
Step 3
Eat regularly throughout the day. Keep your blood sugar levels regulated and avoid crashes by eating at least every few hours.
Step 4
Consume foods that are healthier for you, such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Avoid fast food and processed junk foods that are higher in saturated fat and sugar.
Step 5
Sleep for at least eight hours every night. Sleep deprivation is a major cause of fatigue during the day.
Step 6
Reduce stress levels in your life by learning deep breathing techniques, meditation or discipline such as yoga or tai chi. Stress can lead to depression, which may lead to fatigue.
