Super Seed is a fiber-rich dietary supplement designed and marketed by Jordan Rubin as part of an eating plan called The Maker's Diet. Both the supplement and the diet plan are designed to help people achieve healthful weights, increased energy and better overall health. Rubin describes the diet as "humanity's oldest, most successful health plan."

Benefits

Potential positive health effects of Super Seed have not been scientifically tested or proven, but Rubin asserts that the supplement provides a healthy balance of both soluble and insoluble fiber, which are essential nutrients for the body. The product is also free of artificial additions and chemicals, and is certified organic. According to TheMakersDiet.info, Super Seed is designed to improve digestion of seeds, legumes and grains, aid bowel movements and help the body discharge toxins and other potentially harmful substances.

Features

Super Seed is composed of a mixture of legumes, sprouted grains and seeds. Rubin recommends that users mix one scoop with some water twice per day and take the mixture as a fiber supplement. According to MayoClinic.com, men and women ages 50 and younger need at least 38 and 25 g fiber per day, respectively, and men and women 51 or older need at least 30 and 21 g daily. However, on TheMakersDiet.info, Rubin states his belief that people would be healthier and feel better if they ate 30 to 35 g of fiber per day.

Nutrition Facts

GardenofLife.com states that a single scoop of Super Seed contains 20 g of the product and includes 70 calories, 2.5 g fat, 10 mg sodium, 9 g carbohydrates, 6 g protein, no sugar and 6 g fiber, or about 25 percent of the recommended daily value. Thus, taking Rubin's recommended two scoops daily would provide about half of your daily fiber requirements for optimal health.

Ingredients

Super Seed contains all organic ingredients and includes flaxseed meal, whole chia seeds and a variety of whole grain and bean sprouts: amaranth, quinoa, millet, buckwheat, chickpea, kidney bean, lentil, adzuki, flax, sunflower, pumpkin, chia and sesame. The supplement also contains cinnamon and stevia, a plant-based sweetener. The final ingredient is a probiotic blend that includes eight types of probiotic bacteria, intended to aid digestion.

Considerations

Super Seed contains natural and whole grain ingredients, which might make it healthier than comparable dietary supplements. However, it has no proven benefits as a weight loss aid and is not guaranteed to improve any health conditions. Before starting The Maker's Diet or using Super Seed as part of any new eating plan, contact your physician for recommendations and advice.
