How to Boost Metabolism for Picky Eaters

If you are a picky eater, you may have difficulty following certain tips that can help boost your metabolism. For instance, if you tend to pick at your food, you may not want to eat frequent meals throughout the day. You may also want to avoid certain metabolism-boosting foods, such as grapefruit, green tea and hot peppers. Luckily, other methods can be used to boost your metabolism.

Step 1

Drink more water. Your body needs to be well hydrated in order to function properly. Give your metabolism a boost by aiming to drink eight to 10 glasses a day.

Step 2

Make time to exercise. Aerobics and strength training can both help boost the metabolism. Some aerobic exercises you can do include running, walking or cycling. Weight training helps build muscle, which can burn more calories in the body. Aim to do aerobics and strength training workouts at least three times a week.

Step 3

Eat small meals. Measure out your portions, so that you don't overeat at meals. Properly portioned meals can help your body burn at the optimal metabolic rate.

Step 4

Consume foods low in sugar. Even though you are a picky eater, you should still watch what you eat and avoid sugary foods. High sugar foods will take longer for the body to break down.

Step 5

Get plenty of sleep. You'll want to get at least seven to eight hours of sleep a night in order to give your metabolism a boost.

Step 6

Keep your stress levels under control. Stress can cause the release of a steroid known as cortisol, which can slow down the body's metabolic rate.
