Lipoplasty, sometimes referred to as liposuction, is a plastic surgery procedure that removes built up fat from various places on the body. Though commonly used on fattier areas, like the buttocks, hips, abdomen and thighs, lipoplasty may be performed anywhere excess fat exists. Chest lipoplasty is liposuction of the chest of either men or women. The Columbia University Medical Center recommends avoiding strenuous exercise for at least one month following your procedure.
Walking
Following a chest lipoplasty procedure, you should walk and move around as often as possible. Not only is walking an easy and light post-operation form of exercise, it also keeps blood circulating. This prevents the formation of blood clots, says the New York University Langone Medical Center.
Dumbbell Exercises
Once your doctor has granted permission to begin exercising, select a set of lightweight dumbbells. You should be able to comfortably complete 10 to 15 repetitions without straining too much. If you cannot do this, use a lighter set. Over time, graduate to heavier dumbbells.
Flat Dumbbell Vertical: Lie down on your back on the floor or on a weight bench. Hold a dumbbell in each hand and rest them on your chest. Slowly press the dumbbells straight up with palms facing each other. Slowly bring the weights back down and repeat 15 to 20 times.
Flat Dumbbell Horizontal
Assume the same position as the Flat Dumbbell Vertical with weights in either hand resting on your chest. Instead of pressing upwards, allow your arms to move outward to create a wide arc. With palms pointed out and pectorals flexed, keep the dumbbells in line with your chest and then slowly bring them back the starting position. Repeat 15 to 20 times.
Medicine Ball Exercises
Medicine ball moves are another light form of exercise that can be completed after you've been granted permission to resume workouts.
Big Circles: With feet shoulder-width apart and knees gently bent, hold a medicine ball directly above your head. Rotate your arms counterclockwise to form a big circle, but do not bend your elbows. Complete 10 large circles and then repeat the exercise going clockwise.
Chops: Stand with feet shoulder width apart. Holding the medicine ball, stretch arms straight above your head. Quickly bend forward at the waist, as if you're throwing the ball between your legs. Resume the movement just as quickly to assume the starting position. Complete 15 total repetitions.
