How to Become Jazzercise Instructor

Jazzercise is a trademarked dance exercise system that combines upbeat music with strength training, jazz-based cardio dance moves, yoga and Pilates stretches, and core work. Jazzercise classes last 60 minutes and are led by independent instructors, or franchise holders. Classes can occur at recreation centers, gyms or anywhere the instructor can set up shop. Instructors can also work as employees or contractors of a Jazzercise business franchise owner.

Step 1

Consult the Jazzercise.com website for instructor workshops in your area. Look for a workshop that occurs at least 10 weeks in the future.

Step 2

Fill out an instructor application and submit it to a Jazzercise district manager at least 10 weeks before the scheduled workshop.

Step 3

Attend a Jazzercise movement screening session and get your CPR certification prior to the workshop. Jazzercise requires all instructors to have CPR certification.

Step 4

Review and sign the franchise agreement and study your training materials prior to attending the workshop. You should receive the contract six weeks prior, and your training materials two-to-four weeks prior.

Step 5

Take the health and fitness exam at least three days before attending the workshop. The Jazzercise corporation will send you an email invitation for the online exam.

Step 6

Attend the workshop and learn several Jazzercise routines. At the end of the workshop, pass the practical exam and receive your certification.
