The skateboard ramp known as the half pipe often ranges from 15 to 18 feet in height. Skaters use the inclined walls to launch above the top of the ramp. There are numerous games you can play on the half pipe with your friends and fellow skaters.

SKATE

Playing a game of SKATE on a half pipe will allow you to showcase your most difficult skateboarding maneuvers. The game resembles the popular basketball game known as HORSE. A chosen skater has the opportunity to set the first trick. If the skater lands successfully, the trick has been officially set. Each additional player has one chance to land the set trick. If unsuccessful, the player receives a letter. If you acquire each letter of SKATE, you are disqualified from the game. You have two chances to land the trick on your last letter.

Grind Contest

The grind contest requires one of your fellow skateboarders to act as the official judge. Equip the judge with a tape measure to ensure accuracy. When your turn comes, slide the bottom of your skateboard across the metal bar found at the top of the half pipe ramp. The skater who performs the longest slide, or grind, wins the contest. Make sure each of the contestants wears a helmet to protect against the metal ramp coping.

Longest Line

In skateboarding, a "line" refers to when you successfully land a consecutive series of tricks. Play a half pipe game that involves judging your fellow riders on their ability to execute a line. Stand on the deck of the ramp as your first opponent drops in. Count the number of tricks the contestant successfully lands one after the other. The player who can land the most tricks without falling wins the longest line contest.

Highest Air

The highest air contest is one of the more dangerous half pipe games. According to Grind TV, specialized half pipes can launch skateboarders more than 15 feet above the ramp coping. Use a tape measure to roughly estimate the height of each skater's air. Make sure to hold the skateboard to the bottom of your feet as you attempt the highest air. The skateboarder who performs the highest air above the coping wins this half pipe game.
