Caffeine in Lipton White & Green Tea

Lipton tea offers a wide variety of tea, including several versions of white tea and green tea. Although the nutritional details of these teas are similar, each tea flavor may have slightly different caffeine content amounts. If you are concerned about your caffeine consumption, you can learn which teas contain the most caffeine and which contain the least.

Green Tea

Many flavors of Lipton's Green Tea contain 20 mg caffeine per serving, including the Orange, Passionfruit and Jasmine flavors, the Mixed Berry flavor, the Mint flavor and the Honey flavor. The "Superfruit" flavors, including Purple Acai and Blueberry Green Tea, Red Goji and Raspberry Green Tea and the White Mangosteen and Peach Green Tea, contain 22 mg caffeine per serving. The Green Tea with Citrus and Cranberry Pomegranate flavor contains 25 mg caffeine per serving, while the Lemon Ginseng flavor contains 30 mg per serving. The Green Tea with the highest level of caffeine is the 100 Percent Natural Green Tea, which contains 35 mg caffeine per serving. The decaffeinated teas, both the 100 Percent Natural Decaffeinated Green Tea and the Decaffeinated Honey Lemon Green Tea, both contain only 4 mg per serving. The bottled green ice tea flavors all contain 12 mg caffeine, with the exception of the Chilled Green Tea with Peach and Mango flavor, which contains 10 mg caffeine.

White Tea

The White Tea to Go with Natural Raspberry Flavor contains 15 mg caffeine per serving. The White Tea with Raspberry Flavor as a bottled iced-tea version only contains 13 mg caffeine. The diet version of the same flavor of bottled ice tea contains 18 mg caffeine per serving.

Considerations

The specific amount of caffeine in a cup of Lipton Green or White Tea may vary, depending on how the tea is prepared. Letting the tea bag seep in water for longer periods of time will result in a more highly caffeinated beverage, while using a larger mug of water may make the beverage contain slightly less caffeine. The temperature of the water may also influence the amount of caffeine in the beverage. Pre-made bottles of Lipton tea, however, generally will not vary much from the caffeine content listed on the nutrition label.

Warning

Consuming too much caffeine, particularly more than 600 mg a day, may cause unpleasant side effects. Some side effects may include insomnia, irritability, nervousness, anxiety, nausea, stomach upset and muscle tremors, according to MayoClinic.com. Monitor your daily caffeine consumption, including the amount of Lipton tea you drink, to avoid these side effects. Talk to your doctor if you have questions or concerns about your caffeine consumption.
