The Beijing Olympic Games were held Aug. 8 to 24, 2008. The games composed a wide array of athletic events in a number of different disciplines. The U.S. claimed 110 medals, followed by China with 100 and Russia with 72.
Team Sports Events
The Beijing Olympics featured several team sport events. These games include badminton, basketball, baseball, beach volleyball, soccer, softball, handball, cycling, field hockey and volleyball.
Aquatic Sports
The swimming events at the Beijing Olympic Games attracted a lot of attention, as American Michael Phelps claimed eight gold medals in the sport. Other aquatic Olympic sports included synchronized swimming, rowing, sailing, diving and water polo.
Individual Sports
The Beijing Olympic Games included several individual sports. These sports included boxing, gymnastics, equestrian, judo, table tennis, taekwando, tennis, weightlifting and wrestling.
Track And Field
The track and field portion of the Beijing Olympics encompassed a number of different sports, including running, archery, shooting, pentathlon and triathlon.
