Gallstones form in your gallbladder and gallbladder ducts when your gallbladder is unable to empty bile. Your body produces bile in the gallbladder to aid in the digestion process to help breakdown food into energy. Gallstones actually appear as small stone or pebble-like structures that block the ducts of your gallbladder, which can cause a great deal of pain. You can develop gallstones from very rapid weight loss, high cholesterol or from other medical conditions such as cirrhosis of the liver. The Weight-Control Information Network states that activities such as jogging, walking or bicycling can help you manage your weight and control cholesterol levels to keep you healthy.
Step 1
Warm up and stretch before you begin jogging. This will help increase your heart rate and respiration, which will help deliver more oxygen to your body during your jogging session. It’s best to warm up before stretching. Your warmup should consist of a slow-paced version of your workout. Because you’ll be jogging, go for a brisk walk for about five to 10 minutes. Only after you’ve warmed up should you begin to stretch. It’s not good to stretch a cold muscle as it could lead to a torn or pulled muscle.
Step 2
Jog until you get into a comfortable rhythm. If you begin to feel pain, slow down your pace until you can safely jog without pain or with very little pain. Do not jog at all if you begin to experience severe pain. Your gallbladder can actually become perforated, or torn, which could spill the contents of your gallbladder into other organs as well as your bloodstream.
Step 3
Cool down after your jogging session. Cooling down is an important process of exercising as it helps your body recover from your workout and restore your heart rate, respiration and breathing. Cooling down after your workout also helps reduce stiff and sore muscles.
Tips and Warnings
- Go jogging before eating a meal, as eating can cause gallstone pain, which may make it difficult to jog.
- Do not attempt to jog if you have taken prescription pain medication that impairs your cognition. Do not continue to jog if you experience sharp pains or are in excruciating pain.
