Baseball batting cage games are designed to improve your power at the plate as well as your overall batting stance. While regular baseball games take nine players on each team to play properly, batting cage games can be played in isolation or with a small number of players. According to Beat The Pitch, certain batting cage games will improve your visual concentration as well as your bat speed.
Line Drive Contest
This batting cage game is designed to improve your ability to hit line drives. Step into the batting cage with either a pitcher or pitching machine behind an L screen. Have your coach throw a strike and take a swing at it. On your first successful line drive the game begins. As long as you hit another line drive or don't swing, you can keep going. The goal of the game is to hit as many line drives in a row as you can. According to Beat The Pitch, you are out of the game if you hit the ball into the ground or off the top of the cage before it passes the L screen. The winner is the player with the most line drives in a row.
Up The Middle Game
This game is designed to improve the consistency of your swing as well as your ability to hit the ball up the middle. Step into the cage and get into your normal stance. For every pitch that is thrown try and hit the ball directly back at the machine or pitcher that has thrown it. You get a point for every line drive that is hit up the middle. Grounders up the middle also count. According to Coach Vic's Batting Cage, you should keep your front shoulder closed during the majority of the swing to aim it up the middle. The batter with the most points at the end of their batting session is the winner.
Target Game
This drill is designed to improve your precision and accuracy at the plate. Cut out a large target using either cardboard or piece of paper. Use markers to color circles on the target that equate to different point values, the smaller circle being worth two points and the larger circle being worth one. Hang the target on the L Screen in the batting cage. Have a pitcher or pitching machine throw 15 pitches. Keep track of your score and play with other player's to see who can get the highest score.
One-Handed Batting Game
This batting cage game will help improve your swing as well as your power at the plate. Step up to the plate and get into your normal stance. From here, remove your bottom hand from the bat. Maintaining your stance, have the pitcher in the cage throw you 10 pitches in a row. Have a person stand outside the cage and give you a point for every solid hit you get. The winner of the game is the player with the most solid hits in the game.
