The inability to conceive a baby can be a painful and devastating realization. You may be wondering if there is anything you can do to improve your odds of getting pregnant. Samuel Thatcher, Debra Fulghum Bruce and Britt Berg report in their book, "Making a Baby: Everything You Need to Know to Get Pregnant," that some foods have been linked to an improved immune system, which can boost your fertility. Regularly eating these foods may increase your chances of conception.

Full-Fat Milk

Full-fat milk is considered a possible treatment for infertility due to a lack of ovulation, Thatcher, Bruce and Berg report. Your body needs a certain amount of fat and calcium to ovulate regularly as well as support a pregnancy. If you are low in these nutrients you may not ovulate so you are unable to conceive a baby. Speak with your doctor about adding whole milk to your diet because it is also high in calories and saturated fat, which is not good for the health of your heart. Adding full-fat cheese, ice cream and yogurt to your diet may help you begin to ovulate regularly as well, but make sure to eat these foods under the supervision of your doctor.

Lean Chicken

Protein is an essential nutrient for preparing your body to conceive a baby as well as to support an early pregnancy. Women who have low levels of protein may experience infertility because their bodies are not prepared to sustain a pregnancy, Jeremy Groll and Lorie Groll report in their book, "Fertility Foods: Optimize Ovulation and Conception Through Food Choices." Adding lean chicken to your pre-pregnancy diet will increase how much protein your reproductive system has access to and may jump start your fertility so you are able to get pregnant. Eggs, nuts, fish and other lean cuts of meat are other nutritious sources of protein.

Fresh Fruit

One reason why some women experience difficulties getting pregnant is because their insulin levels are out of balance. Rebalancing insulin levels by eating fresh fruit may enable your body to conceive, Groll and Groll report. Fresh fruits are sources of natural sugar, which benefits your reproductive system by keeping your insulin levels in check. Adding fruits like peaches, pears, apples, bananas and berries, and eliminating foods with refined sugar, such as cakes and cookies, will help you achieve an appropriate insulin balance. Fresh fruit also provides you with essential vitamins and minerals that may boost the health of your immune system so you are able to get pregnant.
