The Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. opened in 1996 in Monterey, California, according to the company website. As of 2010, there were more than 30 restaurants around the United States and the world. The seafood menu may focus on shrimp, but it also features salads, beef and chicken dishes. Many of the dishes contain high amounts of calories, and you may need to make careful choices when trying to maintain a healthy weight.

Chipotle Barbecue Shrimp

The chipotle barbecue shrimp with sauce at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurant can be a low-calorie choice. Each serving contains 330 calories, 15 g of total fat, 7 g of saturated fat, 860 mg of sodium, 36 g of carbohydrate and 12 g of protein, according to MyFitnessPal. The American Heart Association recommends you limit your sodium intake to less than 1,500 mg a day. Most restaurant meals contain higher amounts of sodium than the meals you cook at home. To balance your intake, choose lower-sodium food items at your other meals.

Pear and Berry Salad

The pear and berry salad is another healthy meal option at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. The salad does not contain shrimp, but chicken on a bed of greens with strawberries, pears and glazed pecans. A serving of pear and berry salad without the dressing contains 250 calories and 4 g of total fat. The salad comes with raspberry vinaigrette, which will add 350 calories to your meal. Instead, ask for oil and vinegar.

Bourbon Street Mahi Mahi

Most of the entrees at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. contain between 720 and 1,500 calories. The Bourbon Street Mahi Mahi is one of the lowest-calorie entrees on the menu. One serving with mashed potatoes contains 720 calories, 51 g of total fat, 3 g of saturated fat, 533 mg of sodium, 6 g of carbohydrates and 43 g of protein. The entree contains very little saturated fat. High intakes of saturated fat increase blood cholesterol levels and risk of heart disease.

I'm Stuffed Shrimp

Another entree choice may be the I'm Stuffed Shrimp served with rice, which contains 790 to 920 calories, 6 g of total fat and 50 g of carbohydrates, according to LIVESTRONG.com MyPlate and the New York Bubba Shrimp Co. menu. To save calories, you can ask your server to omit the Monterey Jack cheese on top.
