Jenny Craig provides weight loss plans to women, men, teens, diabetics and senior citizens. These plans include prepared meals, informative website access, a support system of professionals and other dieters, recipes and a variety of helpful information. You can choose to attend a program at a Jenny Craig center, or enroll in a Jenny Craig direct at-home program.
Registration
The first stage in the Jenny Craig diet is meeting the program director. You can do this at the center, or schedule a phone meeting if utilizing the home option. During this meeting, the program director and dieter discuss the dieter's eating style, activity level and preconceived ideas about weight loss. This information is used to develop a customized, effective weight loss program. If done at the center, the dieter is then weighed and measured and takes home her meals for the upcoming week. At home dieters have meals delivered to their homes.
Program Launch
In stage two, the program begins. The dieter eats three meals and one snack every day that are selected from the Jenny Craig meal plan and supplemented by fresh produce from the grocery store. A personal consultant designs the dieter a moderate exercise program to follow. Every week, the program consultant and the dieter meet for one-on-one support and meal pick-up. In each meeting, a weight loss-related topic is discussed to motivate and help the dieter. For at home use, weekly consultations take place over the phone. During the fifth week, the dieter has a check-up. The consultant weighs the dieter and discusses the weight loss plan, making adjustments to it if it is needed.
Halfway There!
Stage three is actually the halfway mark. The dieter transitions from eating prepared meals with additional fruits and vegetables, to planning and preparing her own meals using Jenny Craig recipes. This process is gradual. The dieter takes a quiz about meal planning and her personal eating style. Then she practices planning meals before including her own meals once a week. After she feels more comfortable, she prepares two meals a week. If she dines out, she utilizes the same criteria to select a meal.
Maintenance
By the time the dieter reaches stage four, she has reached her goal weight and is preparing all her own meals. Physical activity is a normal part of her daily routine. Depending on the plan and the dieter, this may be the final stage. For some, a stage five consists of one-on-one support while maintaining the weight loss. Online tools can help the dieter track her progress and continue to plan and prepare healthy meals.
Weight Loss for Men and Teens
Jenny Craig for Men features meals tailored to the nutritional needs for men. The pre-packaged, microwaveable meals eliminate the need for counting points, planning and preparing meals throughout the program. Meals can be picked up or delivered to a designated location. The physical activity component is also adjusted to a man's body type and needs; his weight loss coach is there for weekly consultations. The Jenny Craig Adolescent Program addresses nutritional and counseling needs that teens have, so they can lose weight in the midst of peer pressure. The consultant gauges a safe rate for weight loss, measures growth and development weekly, and helps the teen handle complex weight loss issues such as fitting in at a fast food restaurant or after school activity where high calorie foods are served. Jenny Craig strives to make fitness fun for them.
High Risk Weight Loss Programs
Jenny Craig Type 2 is specially designed for clients with type 2 diabetes. In stage one, the dieter receives her own personal consultant who develops a meal and activity plan consisting of small, more frequent meals and snacks, and a cardiovascular workout. The workout is supposed to help the dieter have more control over her blood sugar level, which could lead to decreased medication and complications of diabetes. Jenny Craig recognizes the special needs of seniors, as well, and has developed Jenny Craig Silver. Since weight loss and activity can be more difficult with age, meals and recommended supplements meet these challenges. Low fat meals are easy to prepare and could decrease health risks such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer. The activity program is more moderate and seniors can perform exercises with the consultant present.
