It is meant to serve as a source of calories, protein, vitamins and minerals for people reliant on tube feedings for nutritional support. Isosource 1.5 Cal should only be used under the direction of a medical professional.

Isosource 1.5 Cal is available in 250-ml cans and 1.0-L bottles. As a calorie-dense medical nutrition formula, it contains 1.5 calories in every milliliter of formula. A 250-ml can contains 375 calories and a 1.0-L bottle contains 1,500 calories. As a calorie-dense formula it is meant to help those with volume intolerance or those on a fluid-restricted diet. According to the Nestle Nutrition website, Isosource 1.5 Cal is formula for people with congestive heart failure, respiratory disease and dysphagia.

Carbohydrates

The carbohydrates in Isosource 1.5 Cal provide the majority of the calories in the tube feeding formula. Maltodextrin and sucrose act as the primary source of carbohydrates in the formula. A 250-ml can contains 42 g of carbohydrate and a 1.0-L bottle contains 170 g of carbohydrate. Isosource 1.5 Cal also contains fiber in the form of Benefiber, which is a combination of soy and soluble fiber. A 250-ml can contains 2 g of fiber, and a 1.0-L bottle contains 8 g of fiber.

Isosource 1.5 Cal is also a high-protein formula meant for individuals with high protein needs. Sodium and calcium caseinates act as the source of protein in the tube feeding formula.
