Stress, medications, poor nutrition and lack of water all take their toll on the health and appearance of your skin. In fact, as the largest organ in the human body, the skin must protect the body from exposure to environmental toxins as well as help to cleanse the body of accumulated toxins through perspiration. When the body is healthy, the skin has an unmistakable glow. Rather than rely on expensive and often synthetic cosmetic solutions that may worsen the symptoms of problem skin, a return to natural products in combination with sunshine, a regular exercise program and an emphasis on a healthy diet may yield the best results of all.

Step 1

Choose a juicer that is within your price range and that processes as much of the pulp as possible. Go for a twin gear juicer that breaks down the produce fibers and releases the most juice for the maximum amount of skin-beautifying nutrients.

Step 2

Buy organic fruits and vegetables for juicing to avoid ingesting pesticides and other synthetic chemicals. Produce grown on large commercial farms may absorb toxins from the soil that may cause allergic reactions, rashes and other skin eruptions.

Step 3

Juice two apples and two carrots for a revitalizing blend that will help to naturally moisturize and soften your skin. Carrots are high in vitamin A, which is necessary for skin health. And the fiber in apples helps to ensure a healthy digestive tract and good elimination, a requisite for healthy skin. Add a finger of fresh ginger for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Step 4

Prepare a green smoothie comprising dark, leafy greens; a banana; and chilled, purified water. Greens are alkalizing and help to calm inflammation in the body as well as the surface of your skin. Choose purified water to keep your skin hydrated and help prevent dry skin.

Step 5

Steep an organic green teabag in a cup of boiling, purified water. Allow the tea to cool and add to 2 cups of juiced or commercially prepared blueberry juice. Both green tea and blueberries detoxify the body and help to eliminate the toxins that cause acne.

Tips and Warnings

  • Store your juicer on the kitchen counter or in a visible location to remind you to juice frequently. Wash all produce well before juicing.
  • Although juicing is an excellent way to enhance the appearance of your skin, proper cleansing, adequate sleep, fresh air and exercise are still important aspects of skin care.
