Elementary games using a football are designed to keep you entertained as well as physically active. While many tend to play traditional tackle football, there are variations of the game that are more casual and fun for elementary school kids and individuals of all playing abilities.
Quarterback Accuracy
This game is designed to improve your throwing accuracy and technique. Hang a car tire, or another kind of tire, from a tree or balance it on a chair. Stand several feet from the tire. Take turns throwing the ball at the tire, trying to successfully throw the ball through the middle. According to Kids Birthday Party Guide, everyone should get 10 throws at the tire. The winner is the player with the most successful throws.
Flag Football
The game is played with the same rules as regular football, but instead of tackling players, you pull their flags. Get a group of friends together and break up into two teams. Hand out flags for people to tuck into their waistbands or hand out premade flag football belts. Set up goal lines on either side of the field and start a game. A player is down if his flag is pulled while he has possession of the ball. You can either set a scoring limit or time limit to decide the winner.
Touch Football
This game is designed to improve your general skills. Assemble four chairs and a group of friends. Put two chairs on opposite sides to act as end zones. Start a basic game of football with one team kicking off. To tackle someone, simply touch them with two hands. According to Family Fun, the offensive team has four tries to get into the end zone before the ball is given to the other team. The team with the most points at the end wins.
Pass the Ball
This game is designed to improve your passing skills and ability to get rid of the ball quickly. Start by sitting in a circle with a group of other kids. Take a football and start passing it around once the music starts. If the music stops and you have the ball, you are out. The last player left is the winner.
