Like most NordicTrack treadmills, the EXP 2000 XI comes with a relatively wide range of features. The most novel feature, a small pair of hand weights with their own storage well in the console, might help you burn more calories but are too light to contribute significantly to a toning workout. The treadmill has a 275 lb. maximum user-weight capacity. Also like most other treadmills, you can start the EXP 2000 in one of several ways, depending on what sort of workout you intend to do.
Step 1
Insert the safety key fully into the slot at the near edge of the console. The treadmill won't function if the key is not in place; you can remove the key to help protect children from accidentally starting the treadmill when you're not around.
Step 2
Clip the safety key's lanyard to the waistband of your pants. Adjust the lanyard so that if you stand in your walking or running position on the treadmill, then take a step back, the key pulls out of the console. If you stumble or fall while walking or running, the safety key coming out of the console will automatically stop the machine.
Step 3
Position your feet on the stationary rails to each side of the walking belt. Never stand on the belt when you start it; you might fall off balance.
Step 4
Press the "Start" or "Speed +" button to start the treadmill under manual control. If you'd rather use a pre-programmed workout, press the "Select Program" button repeatedly until the light next to your selected program illuminates. Your choices are Mountain Trail, Power Hike, Trail Run, Canyon Run and Gorge Trail. Then press "Start" or "Speed +" to begin.
Step 5
Adjust the treadmill speed and incline settings, as desired, with the Speed and Incline buttons on the console. These buttons work whether you're using the treadmill in manual mode or with a pre-programmed workout. However, if you're using a pre-programmed workout, the treadmill will revert to its default speed and incline settings once the next segment begins.
Tips and Warnings
- You can also customize either of two programs in the NordicTrack EXP 2000 XI. Press "Select Program" until either the Learn 1 or Learn 2 program indicator illuminates, then press "Start," followed by "Record." Adjust speed and incline as if the treadmill were under manual control, and carry out your workout as usual. Once you're done, press "Stop," remove the safety key, then reinsert it in the console. To play back a custom workout, highlight that workout with the "Select Program" button, then press "Start." You can also use a heart rate control program if you have a wireless chest strap heart rate monitor. Put the heart monitor on, then press "Select Program" until the Pulse Driven program highlights. Enter your age when prompted, then press "Start."
