Ironman Viper Recumbent Exercise Bike

The Viper is an in-home recumbent exercise bike by Ironman Fitness. This stylish exercise bike is black and grey with red accents. It has a unique design, making it part recumbent, part upright. The console offers over 15 built-in workout programs and seven windows that display feedback about your workout.

Design

The Viper is technically a recumbent bike, but it has some characteristics of an upright bike. The pedals on most recumbent bikes are nearly the same height as the seat. Your legs are extend directly in front of you. The seat on the Viper is behind and above the pedals. Upright bike seats adjust up and down. Recumbent bike seats adjust back and forward. The Viper seat is adjustable at an angle, mixing the design features of both a recumbent and an upright bike. The Viper features a step-through design. You do not have to step over anything to get on or off the machine.

Features

The Viper has a 20-lb, belt-driven, fly wheel. The magnetic resistance system is friction-free and silent. It offers 16 levels of resistance. Two sets of pulse sensors make it easy to check your heart rate at any time. One set is located on the frame next to the seat, the other set on the handlebars by the console. Wheels on the front legs allow you to move the bike to different locations in your home. The Viper has a 300-pound weight capacity. It weighs 149 lbs and is 24 inches wide, 50 inches tall and 55 inches long.

Console

The console on the Viper is multi-colored with seven display windows. The large window at the top of the display provides a visual profile of your current workout. The other six windows show approximate calories burned, speed, elapsed time, pulse, distance and difficulty level. You can easily adjust the pedal resistance with the up and down arrow buttons in the middle of the console.

Programs

The Ironman Viper has 18 built-in workout programs. In manual mode, you control the settings for your workout. You can set the desired time, distance, calories, resistance, distance and pulse rate. The custom workout is divided into 15 segments. You can program a different resistance setting for each segment. There are twelve profile programs built-in to the console. After selecting which profile you want, choose the level of difficulty, calories, distance, pulse and time of the workout. The Viper adjusts the intensity settings based on your choices.

Viper offers four heart rate control programs. Choose a target heart rate zone based on your maximum heart rate. You can select 55, 75 or 90 percent. A custom program allows you to choose your own target heart rate zone. The Viper adjusts the intensity of your workout to maintain your heart rate in the chosen zone.
