Fun wrestling games at home are designed to help you improve your speed, agility, quickness and technique while wrestling. While many wrestling games are best performed in a gym on a proper wrestling mat, simple games and drills can be performed within the safety and comfort of your own home.
Head Between Legs Game
The head between legs game is designed to improve your strength as well as your ability to lift an opponent off the mat. Start with four wrestlers and break up into groups of two. Clear some floor space in either your living room or basement before performing this game. Have two players get down on all fours and place their heads in between the legs of their partners. Have a friend with a stop watch start timing you. On his mark, have the standing wrestlers lift their partners off of the ground as many times as they can in a minute. The winner is the player with the most successful lifts.
Shadow Wrestling
The shadow wrestling game will develop your footwork and technique by visualizing an imaginary opponent, according to Stack Magazine. Start this game by finding a room in your house with floor space. From here, begin circling the room, keep your feet in a basic offensive stance while moving around the room. Follow your shadow and take shots at your shadow, working on exploding through your shots each time you take one. Try to set goals for how long you can play the game without stopping.
Wall Sit Game
This wall sit game will improve your penetration step by strengthening your legs. Grab a partner and stand in front of a wall with a foot or two in between you. On your signal, push your weight back onto the wall, bending down until you are performing a wall sit with your knees at right angles. Try to hold this position as long as you can without stopping. The winner of the game is the player who holds his position the longest.
Fingertip Push-Up Game
The fingertip push-up game is designed to strengthen your arm and leg muscles, which will then improve your take downs and shots. Grab a partner and get down on your knees while facing each other. Get into a basic push-up position in such a way that you are directly facing your partner. On your mark, start performing push-ups as quickly as you can using only your fingertips. Set a timer for one minute to see how many both of you can perform in this time. The winner is the player with the most completed push-ups.
