Emerge skin care products are manufactured and sold by Emerge Labs, based in New York, New York. Emerge describes its skin care products as "cosmeceuticals," a word used by the cosmetics industry to infer that cleansers, moisturizers and other topical treatments give your skin the same benefit as a drug or medicine. Emerge places marketing emphasis on "effective ingredients, organic formulas, real results."

About Emerge Labs

According to the manufacturer's website, Emerge Labs implements a "High Tech Nature," or HTN, biotechnological process to ensure that products meet its standards of quality, efficacy and safety. Purportedly, Emerge skin care products are created, made and used by physicians around the world to address various cosmetic problems, such as acne, hyperpigmentation and aging. Emerge skin care purportedly contains no synthetic chemicals, fragrances or preservatives.

Product Lines

Emerge Labs makes numerous skin care products, including cleansers, toners, moisturizers, anti-aging treatments, sunscreens and body products. Specialty product lines provide benefits for those who suffer from blemished skin, sensitive skin and signs of aging. The Emerge lightening system uses hydroquinone, a bleaching agent, and kojic acid to even out skin tone. Body products include creams to reduce the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks. Emerge also has a product line developed for men, which includes a cleanser, body scrub, balancing lotion and anti-shine cream.

Latest Products

The newest products Emerge Labs added to its lineup, as of December 2010, include Swiss Apple Stem Cell Serum, an anti-aging treatment that uses PhytoCellTec Malus Domsestica, a patent-pending ingredient derived from a "rare Swiss apple," as its active agent. Grape Solar Stem Cell Protection Cream with SPF 30 uses a similar technology to extract stem cells from grapes. Also new to the Emerge skin care is the iCare line, which consists of four products that brighten, protect and repair the skin around your eyes.

Emerge cannot be purchased directly through the manufacturer's website. About Cosmeceuticals

A skin care product can be a cosmetic, drug or combination of both, but the U.S. Food and Drug Administration doesn't legally recognize "cosmeceuticals" as a category. According to the American Academy of Dermatologists, cosmeceuticals with natural or organic ingredients are hot items among consumers; however, there's no scientific proof to suggest these are safer to use than those with synthetic ingredients. To exert any effective, natural ingredients must be chemically altered before they go into the bottle or jar, cautions the AAD, negating the "all natural" claim of some skin care lines. When choosing cosmeceuticals, the AAD advises you to carefully examine advertising claims and discount any that sound too good to be true. Look at the clinical studies that have been performed on a product or ingredient. Lastly, talk to a reliable source -- your doctor or dermatologist.
