Trampolines can be an excellent source of fun and exercise for everyone. Not only can they provide entertainment, but they also improve heart health. There are several trampoline activities and exercises that can be utilized for people of all ages. Most can be done on mini trampolines and large trampolines. Be sure to consult your physician before beginning any exercise program.
Basic Jog
Jogging helps improve cardiovascular health and aids in weight loss. Jogging on a trampoline provide these benefits with less strain on your joints. Stand in the middle of the trampoline and begin running. You can do this standing in place, or you can run around the perimeter if you are on a larger trampoline. Aim for at least 10 minutes of jogging.
Cross Country Skiing
The exercise that simulates cross country skiing utilizes your upper and lower body. Start by shifting your feet backward and forward, alternating one then the other. Once you are comfortable, swing your arms with your left arm up with right leg forward, then right arm up with left leg forward. The faster you go, the more intense the exercise. Aim for one minute then rest for one minute. Repeat exercise five times.
Jumping Jacks
Jumping jacks also use upper and lower body, yet are much gentler on your muscles and joints when done on a trampoline. Stand in the middle of the trampoline and jump with both legs to slightly wider than shoulder length, then jump and place them back together. If you are on a mini trampoline, be mindful of limited space when jumping. Include your both your your arms by bringing them straight above your head when jumping out then back down to your sides as you jump in. Do 50 of them, rest for one minute and repeat five times.
Spins
Spins add variety and fun to a trampoline cardio workout. Stand in the middle of your trampoline and jump up and down. Gradually get higher and higher then do a single twist in the air. You should land in your starting position. Once you are comfortable try spinning one and half to two times if you are on a large trampoline; doing this on a mini trampoline is risky. Do 10 single spins then rest for a minute. Repeat this set five times.
