The cranberry fat flush diet is a weight loss program developed by Ann Louise Gittleman. The program promotes a gradual weight reduction of 1 to 2 lbs per week. The diet consists of three phases: Phase 1, which lasts two weeks; Ongoing Fat Flush, which lasts until the dieter has reached her goal weight; and the Lifestyle Eating Plan, which the dieter follows for life to maintain weight. Consult your physician prior to starting the cranberry fat flush diet or any other diet.
Step 1
Create a cranberry cocktail with 2 cups pure cranberry juice, 6 cups water and 2 tbsp. flaxseed. Drink this cocktail each day while adhering to the cranberry fat flush diet.
Step 2
Limit your caloric intake to 1,200 calories per day, in addition to the calories from the cranberry cocktail, for two weeks while adhering to Phase 1 of the cranberry fat flush plan. Your diet should consist of fruits, vegetables and lean protein, such as egg whites, tofu, fish and lean cuts of poultry and meat.
Step 3
Follow the Ongoing Fat Flush plan until you reach your goal weight. The Ongoing Fat Flush plan allows dieters to consume 1,200 to 1,500 calories per day, in addition to the calories from the cranberry cocktail, and include complex carbohydrates, such as whole grain breads and brown rice, in their diets. Fruits, vegetables and lean protein are still allowed.
Step 4
Adhere to the Lifestyle Eating Plan to maintain your weight loss. In this phase, increase your caloric consumption by 200 calories each week until you stop losing weight. Once your weight remains stable, continue to eat that amount of calories daily.
