Fitness Quest produces the Red XL, a piece of home exercise equipment used to strengthen and tone the core muscles. The equipment supports up to 250 lbs. and provides a maximum of 80 lbs. of resistance. Keep in mind that using the Red XL alone will not give you rock hard abs. Along with using this equipment you need to make time for regular aerobic exercise and follow a calorie controlled diet.
Step 1
Place your bottom in the center of the cushion. Your shoulders and back should be in alignment. Maintain a slight bend in your ankles and keep your feet relaxed.
Step 2
Grip the side handles on the Red XL. Before you begin the exercises, contract your abs to engage the muscles in the area.
Step 3
Adjust the resistance on the Red XL. Turn the knobs attached to the seat to add or decrease resistance. For beginners, choose a low resistance level and focus on doing more reps. As you advance, do fewer reps at a higher resistance.
Step 4
Use the Red XL to perform leg extensions. Lift the legs off of the floor until they are angled in front of your body at waist height. Pull your knees to your chest and hold for three seconds. Push your legs out to return to starting position. Perform one to two sets of 15 to 20 reps.
Step 5
Perform core twists using the Red XL. Keep your feet relaxed and pointed to the floor. Twist to the left while moving your right arm in a punching movement to the opposite side. Repeat the movement for the left arm. Aim for two to three sets of 15 to 20 reps for each side.
Tips and Warnings
- If you wish to perform floor exercises with the Red XL, loosen the attachment knobs at the base of the seat and remove the frame. For additional help using the Red XL, refer to your owner's manual.
