How to Adjust a NordicTrack

NordicTrack's original exercise machine, the Classic Pro Skier, works both the legs and arms with a skiing motion and hand grips that operate by a pulley system. Both the leg and arm functions offer different resistance options to increase or decrease intensity. For an effective workout, adjust the resistance to a level most appropriate for your fitness level.

Step 1

Adjust the skis resistance higher or lower by pushing the leg resistance clamp, located on the upright front bar. Push it higher to increase resistance or lower to decrease resistance.

Step 2

Turn the incline knobs on both of the NordicTrack's legs to loosen it. Push the pins' straight end through both the hole on the leg and the hole on the attached leg bracket. The holes on the leg each increase the elevation by 2 degrees. Tighten the incline knobs to secure the pins.

Step 3

Turn the knobs on each end of the hip pad to loosen it. Push the hip pad up or down to situate it about 1 inch below your navel. It should not restrict your leg movement or press against your stomach. Turn the knobs to secure the hip pad in place.

Step 4

Twist the arm pulley resistance knob, located on top of the pulley, to increase or decrease the hand grips' resistance. Turn it clockwise to increase resistance or counterclockwise to decrease resistance.
