Small Block Eight
According to Bikeradar.com, the Small Block Eight is "an outstanding mix of speed, grip and durability...our ultimate summer rubber," earning 4.5 out of 5 stars. This tire is made with a plethora of small blocks with ramped faces to facilitate rolling on harder surfaces. The tires are made of dual tread technology, or DTC, that adheres easily to rocks and roots, while the knob layout helps prevent puncture and pinch flats. It corners well, although in sticky conditions the tire can clog up more easily.
Kenda Nevegal
The Nevegal tire sheds mud easily and works well in inclement conditions. The 2.1 garnered 4.5 out of 5 stars from Guy Kesteven on Bikeradar.com, as well as excellent user reviews. The tire comes in a downhill wire bead and a cross country folding bead version. The downhill boasts a 2-ply construction with Stick-E rubber for better grip, while the cross country offering is single-ply with Stick-E or DTC rubber for reduced weight.
