The GT bike company began in 1974 when Gary Turner and Richard Long teamed up with the intention of creating the fastest BMX bikes in the industry. Over the years, GT kept up with industry trends, adding various styles of mountain and road bikes to their fleet. The company's innovation resulted in the International Cycling Union banning most of the features of GT's 1996 bike line. Known for speed, GT's mountain bikes are considered top of the line.
Force Carbon Sport
GT created the all mountain Force Carbon Sport to be light enough to hang with cross country race bikes but strong enough to handle rigorous technical terrain. Its Rock Shox front fork provides six inches of travel while its Fox Racing Shox Float protects your backside from jarring bumps. Top class components and accessories, like SRAM shifters, derailleurs, crank and bottom bracket, Shimano cogs, Maxxis Advantage tires and Crank Brothers Candy pedals, make this one of GT's top quality mountain bikes. It is available in XS, S, M, L and XL sizes.
Ruckus 7 1.0
Although freeriding is a relatively new mountain biking genre, the biking industry is improving the products available to freeriders. The Ruckus 7 1.0 is GT's ultimate freeride bike, designed to handle the toughest trails and bike park obstacles and speed its way down or uphill. The Ruckus has a new saddle placement, angled back slightly to put you in a more pedal friendly position for both steep climbs and ripping descents. Its 83mm bottom bracket shell, reinforced head tube and 150mm rear end increase its durability. The Ruckus also includes Avid brakes and SRAM shifters and derailleurs and is available in S, M and L sizes.
Fury
The Fury was the first full carbon downhill mountain bike to come out on the market, and is used by professional downhill racers. Mick Hannah, part of the GT mountain biking team, won the 2009 World Cup on a Fury. This bike has 211 mm travel from an independent drivetrain suspension system, SRAM shifters and rear derailleurs, All Terra front and rear hubs, Avid brakes and Maxxis Minion tires.
Sensor 29 Pro
GT has a few products to offer if you want a bike with 29-inch wheels. The Sensor Pro is one of the best choices. It has 29-inch wheels to make climbing a breeze, dual suspension with 120 mm of front travel and an independent drive train suspension system. It offers 20 speeds and comes with Avid brakes, SRAM componentry, Crank Brothers Candy pedals, All Terra hubs and Kenda Small Block Eight tires.
