When trying to suppress your appetite, it's important that you don't starve yourself; this will signal to your body to hold on to the fat that you already have. There are many ways you can suppress your appetite naturally. Most of the top 10 appetite suppressants are actually simple foods you can eat to decrease your hunger.

Apples

One large apple can provide you about 5g fiber, which fills your stomach for a longer amount of time. The sugars in apples also don't influence blood sugar levels very much, which means you'll have less risk of having your blood sugar level greatly increase and then dramatically crash.

Flaxseeds

According to AskMen.com, eating flaxseeds is becoming a popular way to consume essential fatty acids you need and to gain a good dosage of soluble fiber in your diet. Soluble fiber is a type of fiber that can help reduce blood cholesterol levels. Soluble fiber also slows the digestion process, which helps suppress appetite.

Caffeine

Caffeine is mostly known for its energizing effects. According to AskMen.com, however, when taken in moderate doses, caffeine also stimulates the central nervous system, which suppresses appetite.

Water

Drinking water is an easy way to decrease appetite. According to ProgressiveHealth.com, if you drink an 8 oz. glass of water when you begin to feel hungry, you should notice that your appetite becomes suppressed.

Hoodia

Hoodia is a supplement that regulates your blood glucose levels. It boosts your energy levels, increases the metabolic rate of your body and is effective for weight loss.

Soup

Chicken soup can fill you up quickly due to the protein in chicken. Vegetable soup also reduces your appetite by filling you up with vegetables. Hot liquids in general help suppress your appetite, which makes soup a good way to decrease appetite.

Wasabi

Eating spicy food helps suppress appetite. Adding wasabi to your sushi or fish can thus help you feel less hungry.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal has a higher amount of dietary fiber than most cereals and is low in sugar, which enables it to fill you up without causing your blood sugar level to crash.

Salmon

Salmon helps suppress your appetite because of the healthy fat in it. Protein is the most satiating nutrient, but fat is what helps you feel full for hours after you eat. Salmon contains protein and fat, which makes it an excellent appetite suppressant.

Almonds

Almonds are another excellent source of healthy fats. It takes about half an hour to feel the hunger-reducing effects of nuts, so eat almonds before you start to feel extremely hungry in order to effectively suppress your appetite.
