Most of us wish we had more energy to get ourselves through the day. Certain vitamins may be helpful to boost your daily energy. There are so many supplements on the market to choose from when deciding which vitamins to take. Remember to consult with your physician prior to taking supplements as they may interfere with any medications that you are taking. The following supplements may have a positive impact on your energy level.
B Vitamins
Taking a B-complex supplement is a natural way to increase your daily energy levels. Since B vitamins are water soluble you must obtain them daily either through diet or supplementation. According to the Vitamins and Nutrition Center, the B vitamins are a group of eight vitamins, which include thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pyridoxine (B6), folic acid (B9), cyanocobalamin (B12), pantothenic acid and biotin which are essential for the breakdown of carbohydrates into glucose, which provides us energy. You can purchase a B-complex supplement over-the-counter at your local pharmacy. Many multi-vitamin preparations also contain a B-complex.
Iron
Iron is required by your body for its production of hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is the molecule in red blood cells that transports oxygen to the rest of the body, and therefore without an adequate dietary intake of iron, energy levels can be affected, according to Lovetoknow. Iron can be obtained from food sources such as red meat and dark leafy green vegetables. Iron is usually present in most multi-vitamin preparations. Some people may find iron supplements constipating. You may want to drink additional water and increase your daily fiber intake to help combat constipation.
Magnesium
Magnesium is a supplement which aids in the body's production of ATP, which is the molecule responsible for energy production. According to Lovetoknow, magnesium also helps strengthen bones, and weak bones affect an individual's energy and productivity. Magnesium can be obtained from your daily mutli-vitamin.
