In the tradition of Kundalini yoga, rising Kundalini refers to an upsurge of energy, generated by the power of an individual's consciousness. This energy awakens all of the energy centers of the body as it travels from the base of the spine to the crown of the head, according to "Yoga Journal." Adrenal fatigue refers to a set of symptoms including weakness, exhaustion and insomnia, which alternative medicine attributes to adrenal gland deficiency, according to the MayoClinic.com. Rising Kundalini can be awakened through regular Kundalini yoga practice, and can help invigorate tired, stressed-out bodies.

Controversy

Adrenal fatigue relates to improper diet and chronic emotional and environmental stress, according to the alternative healing website Natural Ways. Adrenal fatigue proponents believe that the adrenal glands, which control stress hormones such as cortisol, become over stimulated by the constant flight or fight response to everyday living, which results in pervasive exhaustion. However, only adrenal insufficiency, wherein the adrenal glands stop producing vital hormones, is a medically recognized diagnosis. Adrenal insufficiency is characterized by weight loss, nausea, dizziness and low blood pressure, according to the Hormone Foundation.

Chakras & Energy

Kundalini energy, according to "Yoga Journal," rests at the base of the spine. Often Kundalini energy is understood to be a coiled serpent that remains dormant until it is awakened through such yogic practices as pranayama, or intense yogic breathing. Once awakened, Kundalini energy "rises" and animates each of the seven energy centers, or charkas. The lower chakras are the root chakra, at the base of the spine, the sacral chakra, in the lower abdomen and the solar plexus chakra, behind the navel. Upper-body chakras include the heart, throat and brow, or third eye. The seventh chakra is the crown chakra. Once rising Kundalini reaches the crown chakra, an expanded state of consciousness results.

Stress

Unmitigated stress at home or in the workplace can take a toll on physical well being, according to FamilyDoctor.org, and often manifests as symptoms that resemble adrenal fatigue -- anxiety, depression, weight loss, insomnia, back pain and diarrhea. A Kundalini yoga class represents a proactive response to stress and adrenal fatigue. Kundalini yoga offers a way to slow down, take a deep breath, mediate and return to the present moment. Rising Kundalini not only expands consciousness, according to "Yoga Journal," but also elicits "a sense of the interconnectedness of all things," and allows you to tap into your body's own natural energy reservoir, rather than resort to bandaid solutions such as caffeine or medication to boost sagging energy.

Practice

If you feel you have all the symptoms of adrenal fatigue, speak to your doctor or health care practitioner to rule out both adrenal insufficiency as well as any other potentially more serious medical condition. Then, consider adopting a Kundalini yoga practice. Kundalini yoga, like any yoga, only "works" if you commit to regular practice --- a minimum of two classes per week. As you practice Kundalini yoga, you may experience your own rising Kundalini as you develop more body awareness, slow down your breathing and dissolve some of your stress.
